Frequently Asked Questions

Printing Technology

Our prints are made using the new Epson 4800 printer, which utilizes their latest UltraChrome K3 ink, on Epson Ultrasmooth archival paper. We chose this system over “conventional” prints on photographic paper because we think that the Epson provides as good or better print quality with even better longevity than traditional prints. When properly cared for and displayed behind glass, your prints should outlast you (check out Wilhelm Research for more information). If they don’t, let us know, and we’ll replace it for you free of charge.

Editions

All of our prints are made in limited editions (plus three artists' proofs for each), are signed and numbered and come with certificates of authenticity. Once the print run has sold out, no more images of that size will be printed. While we are in a digital age when media can be reproduced endlessly, we still believe that limiting the number of prints is to the benefit of everyone involved. The limited edition ensures that there is scarcity of the print to foster a secondary sales market. This means that if more people want a print than are available, those who have the prints can then sell them to the highest bidder. It turns your print into a collector’s item, rather than simply a decoration.

Matting/Framing

We mat all our prints on archival mat board to ensure a lifetime of enjoyment of the print. At this time, we do not offer framing for a couple of reasons. First, framing is based on personal preference, so we want you to be able to choose a frame that will match the décor of your home. By leaving the framing up to you, we ensure that you can get exactly what you want and not have to rely on the frames we would choose to carry. Second, it cuts down on shipping costs and complexity. Matted pictures are easier and less expensive to ship, so by letting you do the framing on your end you will save on this difference in shipping cost.

We strongly recommend that you frame your print as soon as possible, behind glass or preferably UV-filtering glass/acrylic.
